2^nd MILLENIUM BCE (1999-1000)

2^nd mil BCE     Indo-European nomadic warriors of patriarchal organisation invade the Aegean. The indigenous pre-Hellenic societies were of matriarchal organisation that is, the Minoan goddess-worship of Crete. The male and female deities united to constitute the Olympian pantheon and the pluralism is reflected in social dichotomy of A.-rituals of the Olympian deities, the sky god Zeus and his pantheon. B.- Followers of the Mystery religions, such as Orphic, Dionysian and Eleusian, which drew on pre-Greek and oriental traditions of death-rebirth initiation, fertility cults and worship of the Great Mother Goddess. (19)The associated ‘Thesmophoria’ is a Greek woman’s annual three-day festival dedicated to the wheat goddess Demeter. (9)

                       Orphic Hymns of the 2^ndmillennium BCE indicate that the Greeks of this early period had advanced astronomical knowledge, knowing that the seasons were the result of earth’s orbit around the sun. As the sun moved along the ecliptic, the four markers of the Equinoxes and Solstices where identified along with earth’s axial rotation oriented to the north celestial pole. This knowledge the Orphics passed on to their initiates. (68)Not because it was particularly secret but because the general populace was uninterested.

                       Hebrew patriarchs of this time migrate from Mesopotamia to Palestine as part of the migration of Amorites who were northwest Semitic peoples. (173)

                       Semitic people inhabiting Syria-Palestine develop an alphabet; called “North Semitic” it consists of 22 characters each representing a consonant; written right to left. From here the alphabet was eventually to diffuse east as Hebrew=Aramaic=Arabic; Indian=Sanskrit. To the west as Phoenician=Greek (where it accumulated vowel characters) and lead to Etruscan = Roman =classic Latin = modern western alphabet. The alphabet will continue to spread through the church scholars; through the Roman Catholics using the Latin alphabet; through the Greek Orthodox church using the Cyrillic script. (114)

c2000 BCE       NETWER AMUN[Amonet or Amunet] symbolized in the Ram, supplants Mentu the Bull as the highest deity of Egypt. This event corresponds with the Precession of the Vernal Point from Taurus to Aries in its backward slide around the constellations. [067]

                        In a general way, the second millennium is regarded as the ‘Age of the Patriarchs’ (c2000-1600BC), the Biblical fathers, or the 10 purported ancestors of the human race possibly the same as the 10 mythical kings of Akkad prior to the Flood of Genesis. Most commonly thought of as Abraham (c2000BC), Isaac (c1900BC), Jacob (c1800BC) and Jacob’s sons. However, some authors push Abraham back to 2081. Centered on Israel, these characters mark the origin of Judaism and its worship of Yahweh. Their sacred book being the Hebrew Bible or Tanakh, of which the first five books are called the ‘Torah’ or the ‘Five Books of Moses’ (c1350 BCE) and contain God’s laws, ritual prescriptions and the early Jewish history of migration into Egypt, the Exodus back to Canaan and the establishment of the Israelite monarchy. (9)

1950                IBBI-SINis the last king of Ur, archaeological period III of Mesopotamia. Around this time, Elamites invade a weakened Sumer and destroy the city of Ur. Semitic Amorites, nomads from the west and of the same stock as Israel’s ancestors, (173)join those in Sumer, rise up and take power. They establish a capital at Babylon and a new dynasty of kings. Sixth in this line of kings will be Hammurabi who will build the great Babylonian Empire of the future by absorbing the Sumerian city states and uniting them with North Mesopotamia. The resultant culture will reflect the mixed law and culture of the Amorites and Sumerians.

                        At this time, from Egyptian Hieroglyphic symbols developed a more cursive form for easier writing on papyrus, known as hieratic. (114)Does the Hebrew script originates here? The Hebrews are the successors of the ancient knowledge that came through the Egyptians. The Hebrew letters are the secret hieroglyphs from Egypt, given to them by an heretic Egyptian leader called Moses. (161. 300)

1894                OLD BABYLONIAN PERIOD (1894-1595 BCE). Royal women serve as chief priestesses. One type of priestess called the ‘naditu’, live as cloistered celibates in isolated communities. They are of independent means and set up independent households within such a community. (9)

c1890 BCE       JACOB, a patriarch of the Hebrews and son of Isaac, will be renamed Israel, Is-Ra-El ‘striver with God’ or the light of God. He has 12 sons from whom descend the Biblical 12 tribes of Israel (Jacob) symbolized in the 12 constellations. They worship the One God by the name of Yahweh. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, in linear descent, received divine revelation of this one true God who promised that man should be free through their descendants. Jacob’s sons sold their brother Joseph into slavery in Egypt. When famine broke out in Canaan (Palestine), Joseph, who had previously found favour in Egypt, received his father and his brothers there and they prospered for many years.  Much later, their descendants will be enslaved, possibly during the reign of Seti I (r.c1309-1291). These descendants will eventually emerge from captivity under the leadership of Moses c1250 BCE. (114)

                        From Jacob’s progeny, there will arise a new race, that of the mighty Greeks. The Anglo-Saxons will eventually carry forward the evolution of the house of Jacob and Israel. (160)

                        

                        BENJAMINheads one of the tribes of Israel/Jacob. He is called ‘Son of My Right Hand’, ‘Ruler of the South’ and the summer sun. December 23^rd[solstice] is the sacred day of this tribe. (36)

                        Benjamin’s tribe is apportioned territory in the ‘Promised Land’ that will become the site of the sacred city Jerusalem, the Holy City, and capital of Judea in the future. The Benjamites worship Belial, a variation of the Sumerian Mother Goddess (Babylonian Ishtar; Phoenician Astarte). From the Tribe of Benjamin is to come the first Israelite king, Saul who will be elected by the people rather than selected by God. A war between the tribes, over the activities of the worshippers of Belial, ended with many Benjamites going into exile to Arcadia (Greece).(7)

                        ARCADIA comes from Arkades ‘People of the Bear’ whose totem is the sacred bear. They are said to be descended from the deity Arkas, patron of Arcadia and son of Kallisto, the nymph of Artemis the Huntress. Kallisto is associated with the constellation Ursa Major. (7)

            DANAUS, son of King Belus (Belial), and his daughters, as colonists from Palestine (Canaan), bring to the Peloponnesus (Greece) the cult of the Mother Goddess. (33)

FULL MOON in Scorpio on the 30th April was aligned with the giant planet Jupiter. Therefore, everything of Scorpio interest gets expanded for the rest of this lunar cycle. Watch out if you have no personal control.

2080 BCE       ALDERBARAN the star known as the ‘Eye of Taurus’ crosses from Southern to Northern declination of the celestial equator around the time of Abram and Melchisedek. This could also be the dating of the Dashour pyramid texts. Around this time there is also the adoption of the suffix ‘Ra’ in the royal names of Egypt so that for example Kharf became Kharf-ra; Sahu became Sahu-ra. (54) This may indicate the replacing of the rule of ancient hawk-headed god Heru or Horus the Elder by that of the sun god ‘Ra’, although the two are often blended.

                       MELCHISEDEKis priest-king of Salem (Jeru-salem) and high priest of Elohim (God) at the time of Abram. Abram received communion from Melchisedek in the form of bread and wine, a form of initiation used in ancient Egypt. (160. 166 p.77)

                     HERU ‘he who is above’, or the ancient Egyptian god of the sky. As the ‘Face of Heaven he represented the unknown and invisible god of the universe. The ‘hair’ of this face harbored the four children of Horus who represented the supports of the four corners of the universe, formerly the four pillars of the god Shu. Ra or the Sun became the right ‘Eye of Horus’, whilst the Moon became the left ‘Eye of Horus’. By late dynastic times this elder Horus will blend with Horus the younger, son of the goddess Isis. [302vol1p.466]

c2060       IBBI-SIN the last king of the Third Dynasty of Ur in Mesopotamia (c2060-1950) which marked the last glorious revival of Sumerian culture. Within 50 years it will have ended and there is to be no successor. A period of weakness and instability will ensue following the end of this dynasty in 1950 BCE. (173)

c2000 BCE     Babylonians demonstrate familiarity with the rules for the area of rectangles, right-angled triangles and isosceles triangles. These form the foundations of geometry, a branch of mathematics which studies the properties of shapes and space, originally of the Earth and known as geomancy. Ancient Egyptians have a similar body of knowledge.  Much of this knowledge will be later collected by the Greek scholar Euclid, in his book the ‘Elements’ (12) for which John Dee will write a preface in the distant future.

                 SILBURY HILL, Wiltshire, England. A man-made earth structure covering 5 acres was built around this time at Silbury Hill, Wiltshire in England. Its purpose was for measuring time via the utilization of a Maypole, which set on the hill’s truncated top cast a shadow onto the plain below. (68)

                       By 2000 BCE the wanderers of the northern grasslands of Europe, known as the Great White Race, had settled on the Iranian Plateaux, which was called at the time, Eran or the land of the Aryans and from which come the names Iran and Iranian. Aryan is from the Sanskrit Arya, meaning noble. This Eranian group will eventually divide into the Medes and the Persians. The language of the Eranians is similar to Vedic India and may be from the same parent language as that of the Slavonic Teutonic, Celtic, Greek and Latin (Roman) races. (40)

                    Seers of India between now and 1500 BCE roam the forests and record their Hindu wisdom     in writings known as the Upanishads which are among the oldest works of mysticism recorded in the world. (123) However, the Vedic period is dated earlier.

2200 BCE     The Vernal Point, marking the Spring Equinox, is with the Pleiades (31) that is, in the constellation Taurus, making the Autumnal Equinox of the Egyptian New Year in the constellation Scorpio.

                                   

                    Around this time in the Middle Minoan Period is the establishment of the early palace of Phaestos, Crete. Construction of a second palace will begin c1700 BCE. Near Phaestos, a decorated sarcophagus shows scenes of the death rites of this time. (55)

                      An alternative date for the Vernal Point arriving at the cusp of constellation Aries is 2160 BCE. (99) The following year [2159] is the estimated time of a total eclipse over Memphis during the ancient Egypt Dynasty VIII. (240. 241)

The Pleiades, or the 7 sister stars, will be accented in the future Druidic ‘May Feast of Life’ and the ‘November Feast of Death’, which correspond to the Equinoxes and the two aspects of the Mother Goddess. Prayers will be made before the Pleiades on November 1, a date that will eventually become ‘All Souls Day’ and later ‘Halloween’.

c2100 BCE     GUDEA as ruler of the Sumerian city state of Lagash and reasserts the power of Sumer. This event is followed by the reemergence and rise of the city of Ur, followed by that of Babylon. (96) Gudea is called the ‘Shepherd of Ningirsu’. (173)

                        At the same time, UR-NAMMU is king of Ur in Sumer; his son is called Shulgi. Ur-Nammu aids the resurrection of Sumerian superiority and begins a final dynasty of Sumerian kings. Ur-Nammu builds the biggest and finest ziggurat in the land. His written Laws indicate an enlightened ruler-ship. Ritual Lyres are ornamented with Bulls, symbols of strength and fertility. These bulls have beards of Lapis Lazuli, (96) a stone also important to the Egyptians for jewelry, decoration and statues.

                      By about this time Sumerians and Semites are well integrated in Mesopotamia but with the Semites probably dominating politically. (173) A Code of Law from the Akkadian kingdom of Eshnunna, resembles the Covenant Code of the Bible. (173)

                         Gradually, Mesopotamia is subject to intrusions of people from the east and west, namely the Amorites and the Elamites, who are the ancestors of the Persians. (102)

2095                  SHULGI (2095-2048) king of the Third Dynasty of UR, builds a ziggurat at Eridu. (181)

2081 BCE        ABRAHAM the Hebrew, is also known as Abram or Father Oraham. He is King of Ur and a Chaldean initiate. [166] Some give his date as c1300 but Abraham, as possibly a composite character, is generally thought to have an historical date some time before 2081. (84) Abraham is looked upon as the father of the Israelite people (Hebrews/Jews) and is also honored by Christians and the Moslems as their spiritual ancestor, and a model of faith in God. He the first great patriarch of Israel, and often referred to as Father Brahm, which name is apparently based on the Indian Brahma. Abram married his half-sister Sara (later called Sarah) whose name means ‘Queen’ and is a reference to the original Mother Goddess. (13) Possibly these two characters of Abram and Sara, symbolize the Sun and Moon, and the influence of these cosmic bodies on the living Earth and its inhabitants.

                        Abraham is versed in Babylonian star law and carries the Egyptian Hermetic philosophy in its Babylonian form, and which harbors the seeds of the Hebraic language. (242) Abram left Ur under divine inspiration and went to the city of Harran. This is a location of the Sabians/Sabeans or star worshippers. From Haran/Harran Abraham travels to Canaan, where he lives as a nomadic chieftain. Canaan will become known as Palestine in the future, named after the ass god Pales/Pan/Set, who is the disguised goddess Diva Palatua or Vesta. (13)

                        Abraham has a son, Ishmael, by his wife’s Egyptian slave Hagar/Agar, and later a son, Isaac, by his lawful wife Sarah. Sarah’s jealousy caused Hagar and Ishmael to be ostracized. Ishmael’s descendants will be a Bedouin tribe called the Hagarites and nomadic Arabian Ishmaelites, who will form the Biblical Twelve Tribes.

                        

                                    Abraham took his other son Isaac to the spot designated by God to offer him in       sacrifice as a symbol of his commitment. This place is an outcrop of rock on Mount Moriah and destined to become the altar place of the Temple of Jerusalem. (222) Also, known as Mount Zion, it will become the site of the first Jewish temple to be built in the future by King Solomon, and later function as a center for the Knights Templar.

                                    Hebrew tradition attributes the book of wisdom, ‘Sepher Yetzirah’ to Abraham who lived when the pole star was Thuban of the constellation Draco (3500-2000 BCE). Earth’s pole reached its closest to this star c2800 BCE indicating that Draco was ‘the King on his Throne’ at this time, that is, the controller and pivot of the universe. (232)

                                    QUEEN SHABIB (SHEBA) as the earthly embodiment of the moon, reigned on the Sinai Peninsula at the time of Abraham, and at the place where Moses will later receive the covenant that unites him to the god Yahweh. Shabib will build Nisib and Edessa and establish the sanctuary of Harran where is kept an idol of gold called Sin, the Moon-god of Sinai.  The Egyptians knew the land of Sheba as Punt or Ophir. Sheba’s capital is Marib (Mariaba) with a moon temple at Almaqah, where priestesses are known as ‘Sabeans’ and priests are known as ‘Mukarrib’ (kindred of the moon). Queen Shabib is one of a long succession of matriarchal Queens of Sheba and who are the fore-runners of the future King Solomon’s ‘Queen of Sheba’. (13)

                                    Mythology says that Harran was built by Nimrod and is the site of the death of Tammuz. Harran will eventually pass through the hands of varying conquerors, from the Babylonian Empire, the Persian Achaemenid dynasty, the Macedonian conqueror Alexander the Great, and the Arabic Seleucid rulers; eventually to be located in the country of Turkey.                                     The inhabitants of Harran will continue their ‘Pagan’ worship when Christianity takes hold in the 4^th century CE. Under Muslim threat in the 9^th century CE, the pagan Hurrans will adopt the name of Sabians, as they become modified by Hellenic, Persian and other influences. Harran will remain a famous site of ancient ‘beehive’ houses and will be the birth place of the future Gnostic Mandean sect.
