1150              KING WEN, of China, followed by his son Wu, Duke of Chou, added counsels for correct conduct, to the original mute divination of the ‘I Ching’ book of oracles (c2704 BCE). This ancient book of oracles was composed by the Yellow Emperor, the legendary civilizer of China. The philosophy enclosed in this book is based on number mysticism and provides the foundation for the future philosophies of Confucius and Lao-Tse.

                       King Wen’s contribution turned the ‘I Ching’ from a simple oracle into a ‘Book of Wisdom’, so that instead of giving just a straight yes/no answer, the oracular hexagrams would now give guidance and advice. By manipulating stalks of the sacred yarrow plant, linear symbols can be attained and known as trigrams whose interpretation gives sayings of wisdom. King Wen is the progenitor of the Chou dynasty (1150-249 BCE) and is credited with making 64 hexagrams from the original 8 of Fu Hsiå (2852 BCE].

1130                 BRUTUS (d.1103BC) of Britannia. Another name of Brutus is ‘Hugh The Mighty’. Following the fall of Troy, [c1600 BCE] Brutus now leads  a colony of Celtic Trojan exiles from their home land to settle ‘the White Land’ later to be called Albion and then Britain. From these people will come the line of the ‘High Kings’ or Arviragus of ancient Britain. These colonials represent the blood-line that carries an ancient initiate knowledge. Their hereditary title of ‘Merlin’ (Myrrdin) means strength, wisdom and initiatic power of a Priest-King. Their descendants will be traced through the daughter of Joseph of Arimathea (and therefore of the Judaic royal line of David) to King Arthur and then to the Tudor rulers of Britain. (48) Somewhat parallel to the future Merovingian bloodline of the European continent. Brutus is the grandson of Ascanius Julius, son of Aeneas, and of Creusa who was the daughter of King Priam of Troy who ruled during the great war with Greece. (131)

                        At this same time in history, the Temples of Thebes in Greece and Egypt are aligned to the rising star Eltanin. It is a star in the head of the circumpolar constellation Hippo or Draco, once the centre of the heavens and called the ‘Great Serpent or Dragon’. The Dragon guards the entrance to the Hesperides where the golden apples of wisdom grow.

1122 BCE            An Astrolabe records the earliest known Assyrian reference to the star Sirius as ‘gag-si-sa’ or the arrow-star. (30)

1100 BCE             Babylonian star catalogue nominates the Pegasus Square formation, of the Pegasus constellation, as the ‘Primordial Field’ and leading the stars in the way of Ea. (31)

                        In this same year, it is thought that a meteor from Mars crash landed in the Antarctic ‘Allan Hills’ of planet Earth. It will be discovered by man in 1984 CE and in the 1990s when they decided to take a closer look at it, it will be thought to contain fossils of ancient life forms.  TWELFTH CENTURY BCE (1199-1100)

1184 BCE

                       THE HOUSE of DARDANOS after more than 2000 years this family line is scattered following the Fall of Troy in the Trojan War. Subsequently, hero Aeneas goes to Italy with 88,000 Trojans, whilst his son Brutus leads another party to Britain where they establish the city of Trinovantium, later to become the great city of London. Brutus gives his name to a stone from which royal accessions will be traditionally proclaimed by future generations. (131)

                                Achilles the destroyer of Troy has Ursa Major and the Pleiades figured on his battle shield, indicating that these constellations are important to the reign and fall of Troy. (71)

Homer’s ‘Iliad’ Book 18, describes Achilles shield constructed by Vulcan the fire god: - 

The god Vulcan -

First, he shaped the shield so great and strong, adorning it all over and binding it round with a gleaming circuit in three layers……He made the shield in five thicknesses, and with many a wonder did his cunning hand enrich it. He wrought the earth, the heavens, and the sea; the moon also at her full and the untiring sun, with all the signs that glorify the face of heaven- the Pleiads, the Hyads, huge Orion, and the Bear, which men also call the Wain and which turns round ever in one place, facing Orion, and alone never dips into the stream of Oceanus. He wrought also two cities, fair to see and busy with the hum of men. In the one were weddings and wedding-feasts. …..[in the other war]….. He wrought also a fair fallow field, large and thrice ploughed already….. He wrought also a field of harvest corn…. He wrought also a vineyard…. He wrought also a herd of homed cattle…. The god wrought also a pasture in a fair mountain dell…… All round the outermost rim of the shield he set the mighty stream of the river Oceanus. 

Warriors of Troy

                     The star Electra, or Alcor of the constellation Ursa Major, (also called the Fox Star) is known as the mother of the House of Dardanos. (3000 BCE). The star Electra, mother of the Dardanus is saddened when she witnesses the fall of Ilion, and so leaves her station among the Pleiades to become the ‘Fox Star’ or Alcor of Ursa Major. According to Babylonian legend this star, known to them as Era, was powerful among the gods and took its place at the beam of the wagon of Ursa Major. Alcor is associated with the Babylonian planetary god Nergal or Mars. The Sumerian story of ‘Utnapishtim’, records that Nergal/Mars/Alcor is responsible for the first great world flood. Thus, the legends read that when Electra/Era frees herself from the yoke of Ursa Major or from the Pleiades group in the time of the fall of Ilion/Troy, in 1185 BCE, there will come the end of a world-age, presumably the Pleiadic age. (71)

 

                      After the fall of Troy, Aeneas takes the Palladium, a sacred and protective talisman of Athene, to Rome where a new civilization is established. When Constantine later comes to power [312 CE] he will take the Palladium out of Rome and bury it in his new eastern capital of Constantinople which used to be called Byzantium. (295)

 

                       Other authors [133] place the Trojan War at c1111 BCE based on archaeological evidence of Troy VIIa. The first settlement of this site was c3300 BCE.

KING UNTASHGAL [Untash-Gal/Untash-Huban] (c.1265-1245) reigns in the middle period of a new upsurge of Elamite power. The Elamites are of the country of Elam, located south-west of Mesopotamia, and whose capital is old Susa. Untash-Gal and his successors are notable for their spectacular architecture, including a ziggurat and beautiful sculptures located in the city of Dur-Untash. The Elamites spoke a unique language, not related to any other, ancient or modern, and will not be completely understood in the future by those who rediscover this civilization. Elam was also unusual in having a matriarchal social structure; although the rulers were male, succession to the throne was through the female line, a new king being called the ‘son of his sister’. Elamite culture will eventually be submerged under the growing power of the Medes and Persians.

KHAEMWESE priest and eldest a son of Ramesses II, made the first recorded history of Egypt. Khaemwese was a high priest of Ptah and a noted magician. He was a student of the inscriptions on temple walls at Sakkara, and the sacred books of the temple libraries.

SHALMANESER I (1274-45 BCE) of Assyria, founds the temple site of the future city of Nimrud on previous ruins on the east bank of the Tigris. The walls of Nimrud’s palace-temple will depict the Babylonian god Enlil/Bel and his consort Ninlil/Beltis paying homage to the sacred tree. The city of Nimrud, the ancient Biblical Kalhu or Calah, will be named after the legendary hunting hero Nimrod. The city of Nimrud in the future will be further extended by Ashur-nasipal II as the capital of Assyria (c883 BCE), only to be finally overthrown by the Medes in 612 BCE. One temple at this site is dedicated to Ninurtu or Nimrud (patron god of the earlier Kulhu); one temple is dedicated to Nabu, god of writing, and contains a cuneiform archive. Shalmaneser will conquer Israel and scatter its tribes who had taken up residence there following the Exodus. 

TUKULTI-NINURTA I (d.1208) is the successor of Shalmanser I, and continues the building up of the Assyrian Empire.

1200 BCE

AUA an Egyptian scribe writes a text on primary cosmic forces, whilst the island of Crete is destroyed by an historical sea-quake, and its migrating Cretan inhabitants move through Syria by way of Asia Minor and thence sail to the west. These refugees arrive at Gaetulia in North Africa and finally reach Ireland via Spain to become the Irish Milesians. This would explain the wide distribution to be found of ‘Celtic’ design in jewelry and artifacts.

 

Around this time also, the Hittite Empire is being destroyed, by human invaders rather than a natural disaster. These invaders come from the west and are called the ‘Sea People”, who may well have been Atlantians. Assyria rises to power, and inherits the culture and religion that come through Sumeria and then Babylon. The Assyrian chief god, Asher, took on the attributes of the earlier gods, Enlil of Sumer and Marduk of Babylon. The new Assyrian law is based on the code of the earlier Babylonian king Hammurabi.

 During this powerful Full Moon in Cancer, it is a good time to meditate on mother, queen and country! Also, don’t forget your own immediate family, and as an extension of that, your own feelings about life and the emotions engendered in your close family relationships.

Kephera is the ancient Egyptian god attributed to the zodiac sign of Cancer and symbolised with the image of the scarab beetle. We now know this zodiac sign by the name of the Crab which reminds us in a way of the Kephera beetle. This sign Cancer is also a reminder of the birth every day of the renewed sun god in his form of Kephera. We too should seek to create our world anew. 

 

With the Full Moon in Cancer giving the signal, it is a good time to acknowledge your intuitive feelings whilst being aware that emotional sensitivity might get in the way of clear perception. During this highly emotional time, protect your feelings and don’t be too judgmental of others and their emotions. For those so inclined, there is a lot of creative work to be done under the impetus of full flow of imagination.

 

The moon is very happy in the zodiac sign of Cancer and encourages us to give full vent to kindness and caring of others, as well as nurturing our business ventures, cleaning up the house and giving attention to the family and heritage.

 

Cancer is a water sign: drink lots, wash, swim or sail. Do everything in moderation though so that things are not tipped out of balance. Let us be open to making good changes even if they do appear a little radical to begin with. Check out the environment and how we should be living.

AN ALCHEMICAL CYCLE

A Yearly cycle of seasons or the ALCHEMICAL CYCLE for the Southern Hemisphere: The Pagan/Celtic New Year began at the Northern Autumnal Equinox before being changed to the Spring Equinox of the natural seasonal rhythm by some religions.  As the cycle originated in the Northern Hemisphere, the corresponding Southern months are given in brackets, but of course they correspond to the opposite seasons.

FOUR QUARTER FESTIVALS OF THE ELEMENTS

FIRST QUARTER – Libran Equinox

October/Libra [April/Aries] - the turn of the wheel, the tilt of the balance, the beginning of retreat in autumn.

November/Scorpio [May/Taurus] - bitter sweet waters corrupt and decay as winter takes hold.

December/Sagittarius [June/Gemini] - the essences are released into the substratum and dissipated as winter moves on.

SECOND QUARTER – Capricorn Solstice

January/Capricorn [July/Cancer] – life force is reabsorbed into Prime Materia and the Raven flies in the heart of winter, to be reborn.

February/Aquarius [August/Leo] - the solvent waters of life re-arouse the quintescent energies with the move towards spring allowing irrigation and internal breathing.

March/Pisces [September/Virgo] - release of the virgin milk that rekindles activity at the end of winter - swelling and nourishment - external breathing begins.

THIRD QUARTER – Aries Equinox

April/Aries [October/Libra] - bursting forth once more from the dark womb, spring comes and life runs up, the sap and the dew, the release of the breath of life.

May/Taurus [November/Scorpio] – life propels forward the shoots, a burst of blossom and colour at the exaltation of Luna - richness andwarmth returns.

June/Gemini [December/Sagittarius] - early summer activates the work of feeding, training, rapid growth and assimilation of the cosmic and earth elements.

FOURTH QUARTER – Cancer Equinox

July/Cancer [January/Capricorn] - summer reaches her peak or zenith and fullness is flowered through internal fire, which is acid.

August/Leo [February/Aquarius] - full power obtained through the addition of sweet external fire; full colour denotes health giving properties and the soul is separated from the ashes, full throbbing heart.

September/Virgo [March/Pisces] - what has been manufactured must be gathered in, preparation for storage and decay, fruit the product of the blossom, the virgin birth of the Christos in preparation, a cycle of the ‘Work’ reaches full perfection.

                                    THIRTEENTH CENTURY BCE (1299-1200)

1300 BCE         By this century, the hero Dionysius has reached divine status for the Greeks.

c1290 BCE      In Egypt, pharaoh RAMESSES II (1304-1237) and joint wives Nefertari and Isnofret are ruling the country. Ramesses II is the 13^th son of Sethos I, and thus known as the Ombite, for he is a follower of the ancient god Seth.  Ramesses worships 57 ancestors as indicated on the king list of the ‘Table of Sakkara’.  ‘Rameses the Great’ as this pharaoh is known, is a Master of one of the principal esoteric lodges of the day.

                       Ramesses II engaged in major rebuilding at Ihnasya el-Medina, ancient Henen-nesut, (Greek Herakleopolis named after the hero Herakles). Such rebuilding included that at the temple of the ram headed god Harsaphes, anciently known as Herischef, ‘He who is on his Lake’. The earliest monuments of this area date from the 12^th Dynasty. indicating its long-term importance to the Egyptian religious cults. Rameses II built two other temples at Abu Simbel, the Great Temple to Ptah, and the smaller temple to the goddess Hathor and to his wife Nefertari. 

 

                       This great pharaoh was active in regaining many territories and power for Egypt and in this effort there is much communication with Asyrian and Hittite Empires. 

 

                       The annals of Rameses II specify that at this time a Semitic people were settled in the land of Goshen after leaving Canaan during a famine. The Bible says that this event occurred three centuries earlier; perhaps there were two famines, an earlier one as experienced by Joseph (1840 BCE) and now a second in the Ramesses period.

                       Around this time is an alternate date for Moses [previously logged at 1362 BCE]. Moses is said to be the cousin of Menephtah, a son of the Pharaoh Ramesses. As an Egyptian, Moses is known as Osarsiph [according to the writings of Greek historian Manetho]. Moses was brought up and educated in the Egyptian temples in dedication to Isis and Osiris to whom he will become a priest. Manetho himself is an Egyptian priest and will record a different story of Moses to that of the Hebrew version recorded in Exodus ii. Manetho says that Moses in being an Egyptian priest establishes the fact that there is a secret filiation between the Mosaic religion and Egyptian initiation.  Manetho/Africanus gives a time for Moses leaving Egypt as in the reign of Amos.  He subsequently left Egypt as a High Priest of On and took with him the sacred books of Thoth, in order to establish a new regime in a new country. But first he took refuge at the Midian temple of Sinai after ‘killing’ an Egyptian, and placed himself under the resident priest Jethro an Ethiopian. Moses’ five books called the ‘Pentateuch’ has a different interpretation when placed against the background of his training in the solar temple of Memphis. When he left Egypt, Moses took the Egyptian sacred literature with him, in an ark, replica of the Egyptian model and which is to be kept in the Temple Holy of Holies.
